Lesson 1 - The Rules
We begin with the basics, how the pieces move, piece values and the different ways the game can end are all covered here.
Lesson 2 - Basic Checkmates
In this lesson we cover many checkmate patterns that are important to recognize in your games. This type of pattern recognition is invaluable to progress in chess.
Lesson 3 - Chess Tactics
Here we introduce fundamental tactics that all serious chess players must know, inlcuding pins, forks, skewers and more.
Lesson 4 - Opening Principles
The basic building blocks of a strong opening are explained with examples. This knowledge is critical for out maneuvering your opponent in the opening game.
Lesson 5 - Pick Your Opening
Two classic openings are taught in this lesson, the Ruy Lopez and the Queen's Gambit. We've chosen these stalwart openings to begin building your repertoire. 



 
Lesson 6 - Strategy
Make every move count, in this lesson we cover the value of having a strategy and always playing with a goal in mind.
Lesson 7 - Calculation
Calculation refers to a thinking process used by advanced players to quickly analyze and execute a move. It's a disciplined approach to mitigate missed opportunities.
Lesson 8 - Endgame 
With only a few pieces left on the board, your King is thrown into action and every move counts. The endgame is less forgiving to blunders than the rest of the game.
Lesson 9 - Endgame Exercises
Let's practice what we've learned. In this lesson your presented with different positions for you to analyze. Take your time and when your ready listen to the explanation.
Lesson 10 - Analyzing Your Games
To seriously advance in chess requires study and the ability to analyze games. Going through your games allows you to see your strengths and weaknesses.

Emre Sancakli

Emre started playing chess at 6 years old, he primarily plays online with 2400-2500 ratings on chess.com and lichess. He also has a 2500+ Rapid account with lichess. He’s rated in the top 99.5% on most sites. He has a passion for chess that comes through in his teaching and is happy to share his love of the game with his students.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is designed to guide new players through the game of chess. Chess is a huge topic with countless books written on it. We've put together a 5 hour comprehensive class to help launch your chess journey, or if you are a player whose been stuck at a certain rating level this course can help give you the push you need to break through it.

Chess is a deep and thoughtful game and we're here as you progress on your journey. That's why we offer this free 5-hour in-depth introduction to chess with all of our chess sets. As well as a team of expert players ready to help answer any questions you may have on your journey.

COURSE OUTCOME

After taking Chess Armory's Introduction to Chess Coruse you will have a strong foundation and solid understanding of the game. You will be able to start using and building an opening repertoire and analyzing games. From here you’ll have the confidence to enter chess tournaments, grow your chess vocabulary, and share your knowledge of the game with friends and family.
